Orbit Dock Pro is a Mac app that brings the apps, files and folders you use most together in Orbit Dock, which opens right at your cursor. Open it with a keyboard shortcut or by moving the cursor to a screen edge, then launch an item with one click.
How is it different from the macOS Dock?+
The macOS Dock stays at one edge of the screen. Orbit Dock comes to wherever your cursor already is, so there is no trip to the edge of the screen. Point and go beats scroll and hunt.
How do I open Orbit Dock?+
Press the keyboard shortcut you choose, or turn on Hands-Free and move the cursor to the top, left or right edge of the screen. Each profile can have its own shortcut.
What are profiles?+
Profiles are separate layouts for design, coding or everyday use. Each holds its own apps, files and folders, and you switch between them with their shortcuts or by scrolling while Orbit Dock is open.
Can I preview files before opening them?+
Yes. Select an item and press the Space bar to preview it with Quick Look. Press Return to open it.
Can I customize how it looks?+
Yes. Adjust the size, color palette, highlights, borders and animations. On macOS Tahoe 26 and later you can use Liquid Glass. Earlier versions use the frosted glass look. You can also turn animations off entirely.
Does it need an internet connection or an account?+
No. Orbit Dock Pro works fully offline, needs no account and stores all your data locally on your Mac. You can export and import your profiles and settings.
Does Orbit Dock Pro collect any data?+
No. The app contains no ads, no analytics and no user tracking tools. Accessibility permission is requested only if you use Quit apps by right-clicking.
How much does it cost?+
Orbit Dock Pro is a one-time purchase on the Mac App Store. There is no subscription and no in-app purchase. It runs on Macs with Apple silicon and Intel processors and requires macOS 14 or later.
Quit apps by right-clicking doesn't work. What should I do?+
This feature needs Accessibility permission, which Orbit Dock Pro asks for only for this. First turn on "Quit apps by right-clicking" in Settings → Advanced → System. Then open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and turn on Orbit Dock Pro. If it isn't in the list, click the add button below the list and choose Orbit Dock Pro from the Applications folder.
Orbit Dock doesn't open when I press my shortcut.+
Another app or macOS may already be using the same shortcut. Open Settings from the Orbit Dock Pro menu bar icon, go to Profiles and give the profile a different shortcut with Command, Option or Control. Also check that Orbit Dock Pro is running: its icon should be in the menu bar. Turn on "Open at login" so it's always ready, or turn on Hands-Free in Settings → Advanced → Shortcuts and Activation to open Orbit Dock from a screen edge without any keys.
